The fiction plane where the Doctor has regenerated past his eighth body to his ninth is the fiction-plane of the Red Nose Day telethon sketch Curse of the Fatal Death (1999). This is the first appearance of Curse of the Fatal Death characters in chronological order. In the first three of four ten-minute episodes, the Doctor's ninth incarnation is played by Rowan Atkinson (and Emma by Julia Sawalha). At the end of the third episode the Doctor regenerates.
